The job search involves many steps, from writing your CV to tracking your applications. These 11 tools will help you save time and make the process more efficient.

Job search platforms:

1/ Indeed, thousands of offers just a click away

There is a reason why Indeed is the most used aggregator for candidates and companies. With thousands of job offers in all sectors of business and all levels of experience, short-term or permanent, part-time or full-time, you are sure to find offers that match your search.

Using the tool is also straightforward. Once you create your free account, you can:

  • Configure your search by keywords, location, type of contract, working hours;
  • Submit your CV;
  • Save job offers that interest you;
  • Track the progress of your applications. You are notified when your CV is viewed.

Not surprisingly, the main drawback with Indeed is the high level of competition. Yes, you will find a large number of ads, but the number of candidate users is just as high.

2/ Specialised job sites

If you are looking for a job in a specific sector (e.g. finance), we advise consulting job sites that are specialised in your area of expertise. This will allow you to target your search more precisely, increasing your chances of finding a position that matches your skills and experience.

Examples of job sites by sector of activity:

  • Tech: GitHub Jobs, HackerRanck;
  • Finance : eFinancialCareers, FinancialJobsWeb ;
  • Marketing: MarketingJobs.com, Jobs In Marketing, GrowthHackers ;
  • Sales: SalesJobs.com, Rainmakers, Hired.

3/ LinkedIn is the alternative to job sites

LinkedIn is an interesting and efficient solution to find a job faster once you have completed and optimised your professional profile. If you haven’t already done so, start by detailing your background, accomplishments and skills using keywords related to the position you’re looking for so that they appear in recruiter searches. To strengthen your credibility, do not hesitate to ask your contacts for recommendations.

For jobs posted on the network, LinkedIn offers a search engine with filters by location, sector, level of experience, etc. You can also set up alerts and receive notifications about new jobs that match your search criteria. The “Easy Apply” feature is also very interesting as it allows you to apply for jobs directly using your LinkedIn profile, which makes the process faster.

Another positive point is that you can follow the company pages of your choice. This is a great way to keep up with the latest news and learn more about the company culture.

4/ Wiggli, the all-in-one recruitment platform

Initially dedicated to freelancers looking for missions, for the past year, the Wiggli platform has also targeted employee candidates. Soon to be available for smartphones, the solution allows you to create a free account where you can submit your CV and fill in your contact details and preferences: type of contract, remuneration, work location, availability date, etc.

Using artificial intelligence, Wiggli automatically scans your CV and encodes your skills. You remain in control because you can update your skills based on your search. The main advantage of Wiggli is that for each job offer, you receive a notification specifying the percentage of compatibility with the skills entered.

Finally, Wiggli goes further than traditional job sites by offering a corporate showcase. If you are interested in an ad, there is no need to conduct your own research into the company, because you have access to information about the teams, the recruitment process, the company history and engagements on the platform.

Tools to create your CV and cover letters:

5/ Canva, a library of CV templates you can customise

Canva offers an extensive collection of pre-designed template CVs that adapt to different styles and careers. Whether you are looking for a minimalist, corporate or creative design, you will find something to your taste. The strength of this tool is that you can customise the templates from A to Z. Depending on what you need and your taste, you can change the colours, fonts, images and layouts of elements of the CV.

Thanks to its intuitive interface, Canva will save you valuable time. Key features of the tool include:

  • Drag and drop: you can easily add, move and delete things.
  • Edit your CV in real time: changes to the document are made in real time, allowing you to instantly see the results of the adjustments.
  • Uploading: you can export your CV in various formats (PDF, PNG or JPEG) to print out or send by email.

Finally, Canva is a cloud-based platform, so you can access your creations from any device that is connected to the Internet. Canva also has a mobile application.

An alternative to Canva is Zety

6/ Grammarly for an error-free cover letter and CV

As attractive as your CV may be, if it contains spelling and grammar mistakes, the recruiter may question your seriousness and motivation. That is why we recommend using an online spelling and grammar checker.

A tool like Grammarly x-rays your CV and cover letter and suggests instant corrections. You no longer have to spend time rereading your letter and looking for the correct spelling and syntax.

Good to know: Grammarly can integrate with Canva.

Tools to prepare your job interviews:

The job interview is an essential step in the candidate journey. There are solutions to help you prepare for the big day.

7/ Pramp to practice with peers

Pramp is a platform to practice real-time recruitment interviews with other candidates. In practical terms, the solution helps you:

  • Find a partner. Enter your availability and the type of interview you want to practice. You are then connected to a peer and the tool provides you with job interview questions;
  • Practice. Interviews are conducted by video. You and your peer interview each other for 30 to 45 minutes using the questions available to you. After the interview, each provides feedback to help the other improve and gain confidence and self-assurance.

Alternative: BigInterview. This online training platform prepares you for job interviews with videos and exercises.

8/ Glassdoor, for business-friendly interviews

All job interviews aim to assess your skills, motivations and personality. However, these topics will be introduced differently, with different questions from one company to another. On Glassdoor, you can view typical questions asked in a company. This way, you can customise your prep and feel more serene on the day of the job interview.

9/ ChatGPT, a virtual personal coach

ChatGPT is a virtual assistant that can coach you by simulating interviews. In concrete terms, it can help you prepare for the most common questions, but also those specific to the job and the industry. To make the simulation as relevant as possible, remember to give ChatGPT as much information as you can:

  • Recruitment context: company, position, sector of activity, level of responsibility, duties, department;
  • Your contact person: is this a first interview with the hiring manager or human resources? Is this a 2nd interview with the manager? The CEO or the director?
  • Personal elements: your weaknesses and areas you want to work on, your strengths, past experiences, etc.

ChatGPT can also provide you with tips on how to properly introduce yourself and structure your answers. Once again, it is important to specify and refine your request if you want the AI to challenge you.

Application tracking tools:

When you send multiple applications and use different channels and platforms to submit your CV, tracking everything can become tedious very quickly. A management tool is useful in centralising your applications, monitoring progress and organising your job searches.

10/ Trello, the tool to easily manage your job searches

Trello is a visual project management tool organised into tables, which are themselves composed of lists in columns containing tasks in the form of cards. Once you have created a card, you can drag and drop it between lists to indicate its status.

The possibilities are many. For example, you can assign an expiry date to a card, add labels to organise cards into categories, and use comments and attachments. This allows you to keep track of your applications, the stages of the recruitment process and key dates.

11/JibberJobber, the application specialised in career management

JibberJobber is a career management app that helps you organise and track your job searches. A true job tracking CRM, JibberJobber allows you to:

  • Save and track the positions you have applied for
  • Monitor your relationships and identify business opportunities
  • List the companies in which you would like to work;
  • Using the learning platform, learn how to effectively search for a job and grow your professional network.

And the free version allows you to test the tool at your leisure!
